Description of Ambient execution
A re-creation of Flynn's Arcade from the films Tron and Tron Legacy was built in San Diego for the 2009 Comic Con convention. A blacklight scavenger hunt led players through the Gaslamp District as they contructed a lightcycle path to the arcade's location. Once there, players were transported to the 80's as the fully functional arcade provided music and entertainment. As Journey's "Separate Ways" wafted over the jukebox, the neon flickered and a secret door behind the Tron machine opened up to allow players to go "on the grid" to see a full-scale lightcycle from the new film. Pre and post experiences online allowed the global audience to participate in unlocking test footage for the new movie. The experience brought the film to life and connected fans of the original with today's younger audience now eager to see such a production.
