The brief was basically to create a promotional site for the band's latest album, Soundtrack for a book. The band wanted the listening experience to be felt on a uniquely personal level, so each album is packaged in a pre-owned storybook and is individually numbered. We thought the best way to support this 'concept' was to create a site that allows owners of the albums to 'own' an identical virtual copy of their 'book' online. By doing so, they can leave remarks for the band and customize their own unique page. The band can then use this as a platform to gather a mailing list to grow their fanbase. In terms of the visuals, we wanted the music to do most of the talking, so it was very clear from the beginning of the project that this has to be a sound visualization sort of website. It also suited the theme of the album to have the 'books' represent the music visually in a de-constructed state.
