MVO: This is the story of a wealthy British family who went to Scotland for their summer vacation. As soon as they got to the estate, their young son went straight to the lake. However, when swimming in the lake, a horrible cramp paralyzed his legs. Unable to swim and swallowing huge amounts of water, the boy started to yell for help. The only one who heard him was the housekeeper’s son, who immediately ran to the lake and rescued the almost lifeless boy. When the boy’s father learned about the incident, he almost had a heart attack. He went straight to the likeable housekeeper, Mr. Fleming, to express his gratitude. First, he offered him money. A small fortune, which, much to everyone’s surprise, Mr. Fleming didn’t accept.

'My son did what anyone would have done', he said.

The man insisted: 'Please accept this. I feel I must do something for you'.

'Then do it for my son', the housekeeper replied.

After hearing that, the man got down on his knees to look the boy in his eyes and asked: 'What do you want to be when you grow up, son?'

'A doctor,' he answered. 'But my family can’t afford the school.'

The man then shook Mr. Fleming’s hand and said: 'Your son will attend the best Medical School in England. And he kept his promise.

Many years later, the world was shocked to learn that Winston Churchill, known as the greatest British politician of all time, had come down with a severe case of pneumonia while negotiating the peace in Tehran. The means of communication in England sent out a plead throughout the nation, asking the best doctor in the British Empire, a man who had just discovered a very powerful drug, to be flown there. The doctor was Alex Fleming, who had discovered penicillin. And as soon as he landed, he gave Churchill one of the first shots of the drug, saving his life. And saving his life for the second time in their lives. The boy who almost drowned in the lake was none other than Churchill. And the housekeeper’s son who saved his life was none other than Alex Fleming.

MVO: É a fábula de uma rica família inglesa que foi passar férias de verão na Escócia. Assim que chegaram na fazenda, o caçula saiu correndo para nadar no lago. Ao cair na água, uma cãibra terrível paralisou suas penas. Sem conseguir nadar e engolindo cada vez mais água, o garoto começou a se debater e gritar por socorro. O único que escutou foi o filho do caseiro, que correu até lá e retirou o menino da água, quase sem vida. O pai do garoto, quando soube do ocorrido, quase infartou. E correu até a casa do caseiropara agradecer. Primeiro ele lhe ofereceu dinheiro. Uma pequena fortuna que, para a surpresa de todos, o caseiro recusou.

'Meu filho fez o que qualquer outra pessoa faria', disse ele.

O homem insistiu – Por favor, aceite. Eu preciso fazer alguma coisa por vocês. O caseiro respondeu: Então que seja pelo meu filho. Ouvindo isso, o homem ajoelhou na altura do garoto, olhou nos seus olhos e perguntou: 'O que você quer ser quando crescer, meu amigo?'

'Médico, disse ele. Mas minha família não tem dinheiro para os estudos. '

O homem então estendeu a mão ao pai do garoto e garantiu: seu filho frequentará a melhor escola de medicina da Inglaterra, até se formar. E o homem sustentou sua palavra. Anos depois, o mundo foi sacudido com a notícia de que Winston Churchill, o estadista conhecido como o maior inglês de todos os tempos, havia contraído uma grave pneumonia enquanto negociava a paz em Teerã. Os meios de comunicação com a Inglaterra transmitiram por toda a nação o desejo de que o melhor médico do império britânico, um homem que havia acabado de descobrir uma droga poderosa, tomasse um avião direto para lá. O médico era Alex Fleming, descobridor da penicilina, que aterrisando em Teerã aplicou uma das primeiras injeções em Churchill, salvando sua vida. E salvando pela segunda vez na vida. O garoto que se afogou no lago era ninguém menos do que Churchill. E o filho do caseiro que salvou sua vida, era ninguém menos do que Alex Fleming.
