MVO: The woman gazed at her own face, in the mirror. Like dust, settling faintly on her dresser, the years had accrued on her skin.

Discovering a mark, not there last year, she ran her fingers across the faint crease, with more of a touch of unchecked affection, than sadness.

'Hey there, can you see me?'

She was speaking to a dear friend, no longer of this world. When that friend realised that she would soon fade from the scene, she muttered, with a sigh: 'It really is nice to age, after all. I wonder what my face looks like, after all these years.'

Those words pierced the woman’s heart. So much, in fact, that she was determined to bring that friend into her heart, to dwell.

From time to time, she reveals her own face: 'See, this is how you’ll look.' That made her friend happy, with the woman actually coming to rejoice in the lines of time. Her friend, however, refused to age, like a glamorous movie star, who dies young. Not a day over 20, forever. Sort of unfair, really.

Pondering that thought, again today the woman goes through her skincare routine – as always, with scrupulous care. She wants to show her friend in the mirror a face beautifully lined with the passage of time. Something that this friend never savoured.

Beautiful – for a split second, forever.
