The first observations about this substance were made in the 19th century when, due to a shortage of natural materials, such as the white willow, from which salicylates were extracted, new synthetic substitutes started to be tested. This led to the synthesis of Paracetamol in 1893. It started to be
sold, in tablet form, in around 1950 in England. Because of its chemical formula, C8H9NO2, Paracetamol does not attack the stomach. It can, therefore, be used without any problem in all situations that require an analgesic, as long as the recommended doses are respected.
