MVO: The holidays were over so it was back to school where Mr Fleming made everyone tell the class what they did over the holidays. So you told them how you went camping at the Mount which you thought was pretty mean until Phil Knight did a speech about his trip to Disneyland which sounded way meaner. Then at lunch-time, the weird kid showed everyone the three pubes that he'd grown over the holidays which was gross, almost as gross as the egg sandwiches mum packed in your lunch box which ponged hard-out. So you traded them with Phil Knight for a pack of WWF lick-on tattoos all the way from America, then you took the four bucks fifty from the cheque that nana gave you for Christmas, which had finally cleared, and grabbed a pie from the tuck shop and a bottle of L&P which was ace for washing down the taste
of Ultimate Warrior lick-on tats that you’d just licked on. You were there and so was L&P - World Famous over summer since ages ago.
Brief Explanation
Many New Zealanders would have gone camping at the Mount during the holidays (a beach resort called Mount Maunganui). When the narrator describes the egg sandwiches as "ponging hard-out" - he means that they smell very strong! L&P is 100 years old this year. The reference to it being "world famous" is a reference to the fond tag applied to this drink by fans i.e. 'world famous in New Zealand'.
