MVO: In today’s edition of 'Damned Musicians'...Gregory 'Dead Hands' Sanders.

MVO: Gregory Sanders (1885-1936) started abusing his piano and everyone’s eardrums at
the New Orleans dock side taverns. Until one night the Taverners Association, fed up with having to open their bars up for his benefit only, disguised themselves with hoods, raided the pianist’s home and cut off his hands. Next to the unconscious pianist the police found a note:

SFX: Note played on a piano

MVO: But Sanders didn’t give up there: Doctor Vandorell, deaf from birth, performed intricate surgery to transplant feet onto the stumps of his hands. And Gregory continued to play just as he had before.

But the Taverners Association didn’t give up there either, and cut off these splendid new extremities too.
Today we would like to remember him for his Suite for Four Hands – or Four Feet - that he recorded and leaves us as his legacy.

MVO: Hoy en nuestra sección 'Artistas Malditos'… Gregory 'Manos Muertas' Sanders.

MVO: Gregory Sanders (1885-1936) empezó a maltratar el piano y los oídos en las tabernas portuarias de Nueva Orleáns. Hasta que una noche la Asociación de Taberneros, encapuchados y hartos de abrir sus bares para ellos y para Gregory, asaltaron el domicilio del pianista y le cortaron las manos.
La policía encontró junto al cuerpo desmayado la siguiente nota:

SFX: Una do de piano

MVO: Pero Sanders no se rindió: El doctor Vandorell, sordo de nacimiento, lo intervino quirúrgicamente y transplantó los pies a los muñones sin manos. Gregory siguió tocando con la misma técnica.

MVO: La Asociación de Taberneros tampoco se rindió. Le cortaron las flamantes extremidades. Hoy, queremos recordarlo con aquellla Suite Para Cuatro Manos – o Cuatro Pies - que dejó grabada.
