Describe the challenges and key objectives
The key objective was a social experience that felt deeper and multi-layered compared with the traditional social web properties and other mobile experiences. The other key objective was utilizing technology in such a way that it felt like something brand new and futuristic. The key challenge was designing an experience and developing the interaction models within the 4 weeks we had to create the solution.

Describe the brief from the client
Big Omaha is a conference that brings together next level thinkers, innovators, and business minds form around the US annually for a 2-day event. They tasked us with creating a compelling social interactive experience encompassing of the energy and brand of the Big Omaha event. They wanted next generation technology, a tangible experience, and something that enabled attendees to network and interact.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
We try and start with traditional experiences and add layers to them until they are something much deeper, more meaningful, and ultimately feel like something new. We liked the idea of using the Microsoft Surface machine because we could use physical objects (badges) in a streamlined way to personalize the experience, provide massively multi-user/multi-touch interactions, and the system was a statement of cutting edge user interface design capability. We also wanted to broadcast the experience in a way that attracted and intrigued an audience, but also provided a purpose to the user experience.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The outcome was a massive success as we had 96.7 percent utilization during the event. We also provided the ability to capture the screen at any given time, send the image to TwitPic online, and then a tweet was sent from the conference Twitter account with mentions to all the users in the screen shot. It served as an extremely powerful advertisement/brand building mechanism as well as a way for attendees to document their experience and retrieve photos from the event. Moppet Mashup has received many accolades and we have been invited back this year with sincere anticipation.
