Describe the brief from the client
Fame and honour: The ADC Awards ceremony is one of the most important events of the year for the German creative scene. Taking the event motto of “a construction site for ideas” as a starting point, we took the approach of seeing the show as “the birth of an idea”. The first part illustrated the search for an idea, and in the second part, the ideas take shape. The turning point was a “big bang” in which a universe of ideas filled the screen and the winning projects were introduced.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
Take the stage: ADC entrusted us with the media content of the 46 meter wide screen for the show – a huge honour, but also a huge challenge to entertain over 1,600 very media savvy guests for three hours. The new show concept needed to be given an exciting structure filled with creative ideas. And it had to be kept in mind that the presentation of the winners and their work could only be added shortly before the show due to strict confidentiality.

Describe how you arrived at the final design

To entertain the most critical audience in Germany takes a strong concept with design, content, structure and technology all working seamlessly together. Taking the event motto of “a construction site for ideas” as a starting point, we took the approach of seeing the show as “the birth of an idea”. We divided the show into two phases: the first part illustrated the search for the idea – everything fluctuates – and in the second part, ideas became concrete. The turning point was dramatised by a big bang: a universe of ideas that filled the whole screen. It was in this environment that the awarding of the prizes also took place. All winners were shown on screen.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Applause: the new show concept was celebrated and all challenges met. Guests, winners and members of the trade media gushed: “The new show concept made sure that no one got bored despite the many awards.”
