Describe the brief from the client
The “Universe of Particles” is intended to mediate the dimension and fascination of the research work which takes place at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Some of the most fundamental questions of physics are addressed at the world's largest particle accelerator lying in a tunnel 27 kilometres in circumference beneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
The exhibition should convey the unique physics experiments to the general public. A long-lasting, emotionally charged experience is the door-opener to more fundamental engagement with CERNs destination.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
The “Universe of Particles” is organised as a free-flow exhibiton, offering a main show every 30 minutes. The visitors experience a world without scale. They move at the sub-atomic level as well as through the vastness of the solar system. Spherical exhibition units are composed to form this content-generated narrative space. All technical devices are integrated, offering a variety of information and interaction. By means of film, sound and light choreography, the room itself becomes an exhibit.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The “Universe of Particles” addresses a wide audience. Around 100,000 visitors per year enjoy the permanent exhibition as an informative, immersive introduction to the world of particle physics at CERN.
