Describe the challenges and key objectives
Conveying innovation within a limited budget created the opportunity of using unconventional media. In order to keep our business prospects and clients thinking about us, we wanted to produce something which is not only a promotional piece but is functional. In order to strengthen the relationship with existing clients as well as to attract new clients we wanted to be right where they would see us – on their desks and in their hands.

Describe the brief from the client
To create a self promotion direct mailing piece. To communicate innovation and quality while creating awareness within a limited budget. The direct mailer should attract new business as well as strengthen the relationship with our existing client base.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
A solution was found which worked as a promotional piece as well as being functional and innovative. A calender was produced which comprised of 12 pencils with the months and days printed onto them. It was packaged together with a sharpener into a premium quality, clean box with the idea: Making history together – today, tomorrow and in the future.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The self promotional direct mailer created a positive 90% response within the first 3 days. An open dialogue was created, resulting in many reactions as well as handwritten responses.
