Describe the brief from the client
hwdesign art project #03
hwdesign art project #03 is the third project in an art book series launched by the agency häfelinger + wagner design. The current project was developed in collaboration with internationally renowned photographer Matthias Ziegler. The story behind this initiative is that the design agency wanted to encourage an exchange between art and design.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
The series of images, set out in a fold-out book, comprises photos that Matthias Ziegler took whilst travelling and working for Deutsche Bank and Fresenius Medical Care.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
The short introduction to the book gets to the heart of what makes the images special. They say you see what you know when taking photographs; Matthias Ziegler seems to draw on a knowledge that is beyond consciousness. His seismographic sensitivity and his impartiality capture moments that enlighten the viewer with every image by revealing a particular reality of our world.
The fragmented typographical design of the book communicates the idea of things that have come about incidentally and in a fragmented way. The book's fold-out format reflects the idea of travelling.
