Describe the brief from the client
Our brief was to create a business card for a Design School.
Describe the challenges and key objectives
Because the card represented a Design School, it was crucial that every element in the card had a reason for being, so it was an exercise in elimination as much as creation. The objective was to create a card that our target audience (prospective students of design) would want to hold on to.
Describe how you arrived at the final design
We started by thinking about the tools of the trade. From brushes to canvas to frames to, well just about anything. In the course of our conscious search, we stumbled upon the Spirograph. We started by playing with it, and discovered that we loved it now just as much as we did as children. But somehow just the Spirograph didn’t seem enough. While it etched incredible patterns, we needed more. So, we added scales to measure font size, leading and strokes as well. The Spirograph Card finally felt complete.
Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Students and prospective students were thrilled when they got the cards and shared it with their friends. The cards became a topic of conversation and helped spread word of mouth for the Design School.
