Describe the challenges and key objectives
It was far from easy to meet this demanding brief. The key challenge was to create a bottle structure that could withstand the considerable internal pressure exerted by carbonated water. The final solution represents a triumph of design and engineering.

Describe the brief from the client
Having already created an award-winning facetted bottle for Isklar still glacial mineral water, the brief was to replicate the stunning crystalline design for the sparkling variant.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
We worked on several different approaches over the course of six months. They ranged from the use of traditional geometries to a radical new technique using the curvature of the plastic itself, which proved to be the best route. Each individual facet was analysed and modified. The facets were given a unique curvature profile and a series of beading on the facet borders, which, together with a petaloidal base, completes the skeleton to provide a structurally sound sparkling bottle that matches the unique beauty of the still.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Isklar Sparkling has just begun its European roll out. Early indications are that both retailers and consumers have embraced the concept.
