Describe the brief from the client
We have a huge, white, waiting room.
Visitors can be bored after few minutes waiting.
How to entertain them while they are waiting?

Describe the challenges and key objectives
We are not the first one to have a waiting room, and agencies often offer animations to entertain visitors, like TV or music, something to watch or listen.
We wanted visitors to interact and be a part of something, not just to watch or listen.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
We had the idea to design not only a Jukebox, but a Vegetal Jukebox.

How does it work?
The plant is connected to an iTunes library. Change tunes randomly by a simple touch on any leaf. High resolution sensors can feel the electric charge provided by the human touch on the plant. They then “d-jay“ the information back to the music library hosted by a wireless connected laptop.

Designed in collaboration with French designer Matthieu Lehanneur.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
We surprise people, because when we tell them they can play with the plant and change music, they just don't believe us! But we also really entertain them.
