Synopsis:
Since 1594, Kungyokudo has been guarding 420 years of history and tradition. The brand has continued to create its own style of incense, which has been used in both ceremonial and everyday occasions. The recipe, which has been handed down through generations, includes names of various ingredients including aged aromatic trees to plants used in Chinese herbal medicine. Kungyokudo presents new ideas of using incense within our modern lives, while also staying true to its own tradition of blending.
For the packaging of the incense, candles and long matches, we chose modern and elegant package designs exhibiting the innovative side of Kungyokudo. The colors for the incense are inspired by the seasons, while its texture recreates washi paper. The candles feature graduated colors that fade upwards like wafting aromas. Long matches and other modern wares from Kungyokudo go beyond traditional ‘Japanese style’ and have helped them establish a reputation both within Japan and overseas.
