Describe the brief from the client
Graphic identity for EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania.
The task is to find a solution for a unique Lithuanian and Basketball combination.
Describe the challenges and key objectives
The Basketball Championship is held every 2 years in a different country. The game itself, arenas and other equipment are the same in every country. Even the sound of the referees whistle and the ball touching the ground sounds the same during every battle.
So, how do we make a foreigner watching the game in the arena, feel that he is in Lithuania?!
Describe how you arrived at the final design
Secondary element in graphic identity is chosen to emphasize basketball as the second religion in Lithuania. Ethno decorative style combines ancient Lithuanian ornaments with basketball symbols. This combination expresses most important values for every Lithuanian. Key words – Basketball, Lithuania, Game.
Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
24 national teams will participate in the tournament. 30 thousand fans from around the world are expected to come to Lithuania. The Championship game will be broadcasted to more than 140 countries and territories, and more than 180 million viewers will be able to feel the Lithuanian spirit.
