Describe the brief from the client
If a book can be written on how to circumnavigate “Around the World in Eight Days,” why not prepare one on how to go “Around İstanbul in One Day”? With this incentive in mind, we decided to design a concept book-project in order to familiarize ourselves and our readers with the Agency’s new location at İstanbul’s historic inlet: the Golden Horn.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
Our objective was to take off from the Agency at 6 in the morning, constantly move clockwise, and return to our starting point the next morning at 6. How well could we get to know our new “home” in just one day?

Describe how you arrived at the final design
1 writer, 1 designer, 1 photographer, and 2 illustrators walked 10 km in 24 hours and came back with thousands of photographs, illustrations, and texts. Of these, 82 human illustrations 19 animal illustrations 64 venue illustrations 74 human photographs 4 animal photographs 95 venue photographs 19 interviews 24 shopkeepers 4 artisans 23 different neighbourhoods/areas 9 eateries 2 museums 6 myths (stories) 9 excerpts assumed their place in the book. The design of the book allowed the reader to experience the Golden Horn in 24 hours and 360 degrees.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
1000 hard copies of the book were printed and distributed as a New Year’s gift. Within the week, hundreds of reprints were requested. Due to the heavy demand, an Internet version of the book was released.
