Describe the brief from the client
To create the catalogue for The Söderberg Prize.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
The Söderberg Prize is a Nordic design award established in 1992. Each year a catalogue is produced to showcase the prize winner. The catalogue design is always inspired by the prize winner’s style, working method, nationality etc.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
The 2010 winners, the Front design group, often allow external factors to direct the design process. As a tribute to them, we allowed chance to help us create 100 different catalogue covers – by playing bingo!
While playing bingo, we noted the order of the bingo caller’s numbers: Four numbers determined the cover’s background colour. The following four numbers settled the colour of the text.
Each catalogue is marked with the date and time, indicating precisely when the results were “played out” at our local bingo hall.
We also happened to get a »bingo» as we were playing. Naturally, we donated our winnings of SEK 600 to Front.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The project has attracted much attention in different forums – from the Creative Review blog to the online bingo room 888.com.
