Describe the challenges and key objectives
A unique, high-value packaging design for an innovative snow chain system. The client, pewag Austria, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tyre chains. The objective was to create a packaging which communicates the product's advantageous properties and stands out under competitors' products at first sight. The packaging should also be: - easy to carry - easy to transport in car's luggage space (protected against slipping around) - aesthetically appealing - pleasant to touch - practical while also conveying a marketing message / user information - designed with retail / tradeshow presentations in mind

Describe the brief from the client
The brief was to design a container for a new snow chain system. The packaging had to reflect the product’s innovative properties, e.g ease of use, especially easy fitting. (Ease of fitting onto the tyres is one of the key factors for prospective purchasers of snow chains.) Additional requirements stated that the packaging should also be: - easy to carry - protected against damage during transport - aesthetically appealing - pleasant to touch - practical while also conveying a marketing message / user information - designed with retail / tradeshow presentations in mind

Describe how you arrived at the final design
Creative concept: the snow chain case is in the shape of a chain link.The shape of the new Snox packaging is unique and communicates functionality, stability, usability, and user friendliness. The waterproof EVA shell looks good and is pleasant to touch. It has the added bonus of preventing the case from sliding around the car boot. The ventilation holes allow air to circulate and therefore prevent corrosion. The heavy-duty fabric handles ensure the product is easy to move. The secondary cardboard packaging doubles up as a brochure. The packaged Snox chains can be easily stacked, making them ideal for trade show booths and retail displays.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The product sold very well and surpassed the client's expectations in consumer demand.
