Describe the challenges and key objectives
low budget + public announcement in urban spaces

Describe the brief from the client
Schauspiel Frankfurt kicked off the 2009/2010 theatre season with a new director, Oliver Reese, and a new company – and publicised the fresh beginning with a multi-stage event.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
In stage one, portraits of the actors – together with quotes from the upcoming season’s plays – appeared overnight on 2,200 Bundestag election posters after the weekend’s voting was completed. At the start of the season, the theatre surprised people once again, this time with larger-than-life portraits of the actors on the theatre’s facade. Then in December, the adjacent underground station ’Willy-Brandt-Platz’ was given a theatre theme to match. Black typography, liberally applied logos and 18 large portraits of company members in the central display case all made the connection to the theatre up above. Printed quotes, some of them up to three metres tall, referred to plays from the theatre’s current programme.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The three-step-announcement reached a wide range of people in the region and made the new theatre director and his ensemble in a sympathetically way popular.
