Describe the challenges and key objectives
Most often the branding and design communities feature well-known names but very little personal rapport with audience, clients and consumers. The objective of authoring and publishing this book as to combine Debbie's life experiences with her branding and design work to promote her helm of an agency she has helped to build and loves. Author and the agency President of Design, Debbie Millman, has worked relentlessly for 26 years to build a very human rapport to make herself and her business more approachable and memorable.

Describe the brief from the client
This book was published with the intent to show the creative opinion leadership of our Design President using insights on brands, incorporated into narrative essays, using the most creative and artistic visual representations possible.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
The Title 'Look Both Ways' refers to an essay within the book but it also refers to the ways in which you can experience the book-- both as a literal book you can read, as well as a “picture” book you can view. Every illustration and painting throughout the book as well as the hand-lettering was drawn by Debbie Millman. The cover and typography was a collaboration between Debbie and Rodrigo Corral.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Released in December 2009, 'Look Both Ways,' a book about art, love, design, tunes, brands, poetry, shame and even physics, landed smack dab in between Brilliant and Highbrow on New York Magazine’s Approval Matrix.
