Describe the brief from the client

Our brief was to create a strong on-screen and off-screen brand that communicated street culture and the summer season in 1 simple marque.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
Channel 4’s Street Summer season of culture and arts tackled everything from Banksy to BMXing.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
Solution:
By combining an icon of summertime (a 99 ice cream) and one of the streets (a traffic cone), we created a brand marque that said all it needed to say in one hit. We then created a handmade stencil that allowed us to fashion a suite of logos with various levels of distress – making sure the branding always evolved.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Result? A simple marque with a clever twist that sticks in the mind whether on a press ad or as a quick end sting.
