Describe the brief from the client
Create the identity for a brand new cocktail bar to attract the ultra-fashionable crowd in East London, and more importantly to stay relevant to the notoriously fickle ‘in’ crowd.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
To ensure any identity we created remained fresh and distinctive yet allowed for change as fashions move on.

Describe how you arrived at the final design

The Hoxton Pony is where two worlds collide - high fashion with traditional standards of service. To allow the bar to change, we underpinned the chaos and colour with a very strong black and white graphic system using simple solarized imagery to cut through the noise. And to inject some humour we took classic English traditions – fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, china teacups – and gave them irreverent, modern twists.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The bar launched to great success, and has continued to flourish with a graphic identity that is at once instantly recognisable yet always different.
