Describe the brief from the client
The Print Counsel is a boutique offset printing company specialising in A3 and custom finishing. The brief was to create an identity and apply it to a piece of direct mail to promote a new A3 press.

Describe the challenges and key objectives
Rather than create a logo mark, the identity was built around the visual elements of the default plate settings that appear outside the trim area of the press sheet - Helvetica, CMYK colour control bars and crop marks.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
The brand idea was to start a colourful conversation by amplifying and personifying CMYK colour swatches. A piece of direct mail was developed to promote a new A3 press. A folded envelope showcasing the different inline effects was created along with a series of promotional postcards as an ongoing conversation between two coloured squares. Each square was embellished with a different print technique to showcase and personify the effects - humorously as well as technically.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The postcards brought new opportunities to The Print Counsel by highlighting new investments in production capabilities and showing existing and prospective clients that the company can provide a unique quality solution and have fun in the process.
