Describe the challenges and key objectives
To design a product which values the skills and talents within Moswo. By its conception and objective, it gives sense to the intention and durability for a short-time event. Before even considering to associate with the WWF for this operation, initially we were thinking of making the panda our mascot. Ideas, in reference to Asian culture and to the contrast and stability, are emerging from the relationship between black and white that is directly linked to our identity.

Describe the brief from the client
«When we decided to celebrate 2009, the 11th anniversary of Moswo, we had not imagined that such an enthusiastic project would uprise. Who says anniversary, whatever the 11th, says event and unforgettable element. With this project «XI Pandas designed by Moswo and for WWF», we have augmented our joy and intentions to act responsibly.

Describe how you arrived at the final design
We have asked our team to draw their version of a panda. Eleven drawings were selected to become a textiled design object. At this level, the significance was very «Moswo» oriented. We had to go further. We met WWF during the exchange organised by the «Institute for Global Responsibility» in collaboration with the school of commerce «Audencia Nantes». During this event, we proposed to the WWF to alter the non commercial objective of our pandas into a selling object and give to the WWF a share of the sale for the profit of their organisation.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The 'XI Pandas' had an enthusiastic welcome developing into further collaborations (projects within Moswo’s competences). Embarking on such a partnership with the WWF, strengthened the eco-responsible aspect of the project. We worked with manufacturers and providers willing to respond to our specific brief. The first collection was released, used for event and for selecting distributors. The «XI Pandas» has been exhibited, in Paris at « The Lazy Dog gallery», in Saint Etienne at «L’Objet du Design», in Lyon at the «Village des Créateurs», in Nantes at the «Cité du Design» at «DesignIn/ Pays de la Loire» at «Fibre[s] design».
