Credits & Description

Whybin TBWA Tequila Auckland create an experience that brings 2011 Rugby World Cup fans together during every live match broadcast, no matter where they are or how they watch the game.

A pioneering social media platform to coincide with the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Grandstand is arguably the first web-based application in New Zealand to feature tailored versions for three different device types (e.g. computers and notebooks, tablets and mobiles).Grandstand is a collaborative content platform enabling users to share in real-time during RWC matches. By consolidating Twitter and Facebook comments, aggregating match information, game imagery, and giving users access to player backgrounds and rugby encyclopedias, fans were able to add their own commentary to the game in an engaging format. By bringing together the features of existing social media platforms and the ability to post and tweet, Grandstand is a unifying platform for die-hard rugby fans.
