AKQA has teamed with non-profit organization Pencils of Promise (www.pencilsofpromise.org) to launch a new fundraising and awareness initiative to promote global literacy and education, Made with Pencils, in time for the holiday season. Made with Pencils shows the potential in a single pencil to affect change and share learnings, thoughts, ideas and creations. The Made with Pencils initiative has brought together notable visionaries, celebrities, athletes, artists and designers from around the world who have donated pencil works for auction to raise awareness and funds for the effort. Some initial participants include entertainers and sports superstars such as Mariah Carey and Shaquille O’Neal, designers Jonathan Adler and Cynthia Rowley, artists such as Joe Fenton, with many more coming in the following weeks.
