For their 100-year anniversary, Yoshimoto Kogyo Group set in place a social program to use entertainment to revitalize the senior population in Japan. 60-year old Hazama Kanpei is a popular comedian,and keen runner. He determined to run and sail non-stop around the world. In 2009, he ran 10,000 km and sailed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The website received more than 100 million page views. The international press coverage was equal to roughly one billion dollars in advertising. Millions of Japanese were given courage by Kanpei's extraordinary journey. And Yoshimoto was recognized for its social contribution.
