Synopsis:
With 11.400 victims and 52 million square meters of its territory sown with landmines, Colombia is the second worst affected country by these devices, behind Afghanistan. After 20 years of struggle, this problem has never received the government and the media’s attention it deserves, making most Colombian’s unaware of the gravity of the situation.
Semana, the country’s most read magazine, decided to use the power of letters to inspire a change. We created Help Font, a typeface where we “mutilated” letters to give them back their readability by using parts of others as prosthetic limbs. The typeface was launched in a special issue with stories, maps, statistics, broad editorial content about landmines. Headlines and even our logo was written using Help Font.
