Describe the brief from the client
Many people see cancer research as a bottomless pit. They don't think making a donation really makes a
difference. After all, they haven't found a cure for cancer, have they?
Our task was to highlight the real advances that have been made by Cancer Research UK in detecting and
curing cancer and to encourage donations.
Describe your solution to the brief
The idea revolved around the fact that thanks to the progress Cancer Research UK has made, thousands of
people are still here today who would not have survived ten years ago.
We used engraved memorial park benches to commemorate people that have survived the disease thanks to
research into cancer.
Local councils across the UK helped us greatly by allowing the cancer survivors to place the benches
wherever they wanted.
Describe the results in as much details as possible - ideally response rates and return on investment, but
at least some client appreciation of the outcome. So far CR-UK has seen a 192% increase in direct debit sign ups.
As we could not afford to give the benches their own unique response phone number, specific results will be
hard attribute.
The eight benches across the UK (with more planned) work as a long term fundraising opportunity, remaining
in place for anything up to thirty years.
