In Italian society today, where traditional values seem on the way out and scandals are the norm, the commandments are re-interpreted by individuals for their own personal interests or convictions. Hence our punchy and thought-provoking revisiting of the original commandments, with a parallel invitation to rediscover them through Grün’s books. It was hard to convince a Catholic publisher to be so bold, as the Vatican still exerts broad influence over public opinion and culture in Italy.
