Script in English

Waiter: African Queen bonjour?

Man: Aha, bonjour! I would like to book a table for two on Monday night … Valentine’s Day you know?

Waiter: Oui, I know.

Man: I have met this most beautiful lady … I’m told the African Queen will have a romantic Valentine’s menu … I was phoning to see if there still room for us? For some rumpy pumpy and some red wine drunky drink....

Waiter: What?

Man: Is there room in your restaurant for two … err love birds?

Waiter: What do you want Monsieur?

Man: (getting very angry) I want to take a lady out for good food in a romantic atmosphere to celebrate our love on Valentine's night … can you help?

Waiter: Mais bien sur … the African Queen, on the port of Beaulieu is the place for you! So a table for two on Monday for you sir?

Man: That’s what I’ve been saying all along you fool!
Brief Explanation

The radio station this advertisement was aired on has grown to be one of France's best local radio stations, even though it broadcasts in English. The client’s restaurant is called the African Queen like the film with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. We started with a series of ads on this theme, but then changed to different characters, including Inspecteur Clouseau. It’s quite funny using a French policeman, for an ad in English, broadcast in France.
