Describe the brief from the client
In times of death, we often come closest to the deceased when we visit their graves, or other specific location where our grief and memories are awakened. These places of memory help us to grieve and to remember and honour the memories of those we’ve lost. Understanding this important insight, The Catholic Church of Germany, Parish Bessenbach, sought a way to better help those grieving.
Describe the challenges and key objectives
To have a location where family and friends can share their memories of the deceased. Once the loved ones arrive at the location chosen by the app initiator, they can begin reminiscing online and reliving their loving memories of the deceased. Members can express their feelings from any location by adding and sharing memories of the deceased in the app community.
Describe how you arrived at the final design
Together with a smartphone and the Remember App, family and friends can compile their memories and can remain emotionally close to the deceased. By going to the remembrance spot chosen by the deceased, invited members of the app community can view the memories added by other members. The remembrance location, marked with the Remember App symbol, becomes the virtual memorial for the deceased.
Invited members of the deceased can collect, share and exchange memories. This can have an emotional influence on the app users. The community application helps the members to share their memories. The remembrance location thus becomes an even more important place of mourning for family and friends
Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The unique Remember App has successfully helped 2 audiences, and has made mourning a richer experience for those who became members. This proves that the app has helped the family and friends of the mourner by helping them to remain closer emotionally to the deceased. And in the future, family and friends who have lost their loved ones will find it very helpful in their mourning process.
