Amsterdam, 13 September 2013 - In cooperation with an international team of creative professionals, Dutch production company Artbox produced a 360 campaign to launch Wacom’s latest solution for creatives, the Cintiq Companion. The integrated mix of media techniques that Artbox houses, combined with the ability to gather up an international team of professionals, were decisive for Wacom to work with Artbox.
Wacom's newest tablet is a 13-inch mobile device that you can take wherever you go. It is light, mobile and has a nice set of technical specifications supporting various applications. With programs like Photoshop, After Effects and Sketchbook Pro, creative professionals can bring their ideas to life when and where inspiration sparks.
The campaign consists of a two minute film with 3D character animation and motion graphics, four films in which the product usage is featured, visuals for the print and online campaign and more. German creative directors Sebastian Kaiser and Bernd Bücker, supported by producer Matthias Wilde, developed and commissioned the creative concept of this campaign. Artbox connected them to Danish motion design studio Frame, who are loyal Wacom customers. "We were so excited to get the creative brief, it’s rare to be the target demographic of a product that we’re pitching on. Being intimately familiar with how the product works made this project irresistible to a director like myself," says director and partner Anders Schroder.
Schroder adds: “Our audience is media savvy and very particular about what they like, so we needed to speak with a level of sophistication and insider cool that they can relate to and respect. It was essential for this commercial to be authentic about the world it portrays while, at the same time, innovative and aesthetically pleasing to those who make images for a living. Going the route of “a day in the life” gave us an opportunity to speak the language of our audience while making something that really stands out.”
Kaiser: "During this campaign, creatives from around the globe joined forces to create something exceptional. This is a modern approach and very much in tune with the product’s pay-off: Make the World Your Studio. As a creative director it was a dream to bring so many disciplines together in one project; live-action film, character design, 3D animation and motion graphics.”
“This campaign establishes our artist collective within the creative scene around the world.” says Martijn Thijssen, CEO of Artbox. Artbox-represented artists who worked on the campaign included before mentioned Frame, Danish VFX post-house Gimmick VFX, Dutch illustrator Bardo Hogendoorn who developed the 3D character, Ars Thanea from Poland for the key visual and Amsterdam-based 3D animator Jurg Neve who created the product animations. Dutch production agency Filmenzo co-produced the commercial’s live action. Jorrit Gerritsen and Niels Scheide were responsible for this.
