Synopsis:
Award-winning director Mark Pellington, represented by AMD, shines a ray of hopeful light onto times of uncertainty in a cinematic new :60 brand spot for PBS’ documentary series “Independent Lens.” The spot weaves together sweeping landscapes and a diverse spectrum of individuals to create a profound tapestry of interconnected spirits through a shared drive for progress. The piece peers in on vignettes that share an essence of pride and soft tenacity, including the fierceness of a woman leading a ‘Black Lives Matter’ march while clutching her small child, the kind heart of a police officer helping an elderly woman down the stairs and the satisfaction of self expression from a passionate street artist. As the diverse group unites in awe of a majestic fireworks display, a powerful voice over declares, “We are all neighbours.”
Independent Lens is an Emmy Award-winning series, on its 16th season, produced by Independent Television Service (ITVS). The series is television’s largest showcase of independent documentary film, with a new original documentary each week from one of the best independent filmmakers working today. Independent Lens films have won 17 Emmy Awards, 16 George Foster Peabody Awards, five Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards and have received nine Academy Award nominations.
