A straight-faced play on silly, corny or outdated Canadian stereotypes. It includes a bunch of subtle insider winks for true Canadians (the goalie pads are backwards, the polar bear out the window, and others), as gags about the purported "lack of need for gimmicks" mentioned in the ad's copy.

This is the second spot in a campaign that taps into MR. SUB's Canadian-ness, and playfully uses Canadian stereotypes to remind Canadian consumers stick to their roots, rather than the large international chains.
