Audi Company is a German company that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury vehicles. Audi is a member of the Volkswagen Group. Audi-branded vehicles are produced in nine production facilities worldwide. Audi take the first place in the rating of automobile brands in “Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club” (ADAC) in 2009.

History of Audi

Audi was founded in 1909 by August Horch. From here, by the way, the name appeared - the German surname Horch, translated “listen” in German and “audi” in Latin. The emblem of Audi is four overlapping rings, it represents the four marques of Auto Union – Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, which were part of the Auto Union by 1934. Audi's slogan is “Vorsprung durch Technik”, meaning “Advancement through Technology”.

The main principle of Audi in its activity is “Think globally, act locally”, which can be translated as “Think for the future, but act on the circumstances”. It means that the company seeks to master the largest markets, building on the territory of the country the production of precisely those cars for which there is demand.

As a member of the Volkswagen concern, Audi participates in a single procurement program, according to which all purchases are made centrally, for all members of the concern at once.

Audi conducts an active advertising policy. It is television and print advertising, sponsorship activities, publishing literature about the company, participation in exhibitions, support of the website, promotions and special purpose programs. Audi arranges contests for clients and potential buyers, the prizes are test drives or a free weekend on the Audi.

A special place in car advertising is held by exhibitions – the first category (A) in Tokyo, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main and Detroit. The second (B) in China, Paris and Moscow.

The company sponsors classical music festivals, in particular in Salzburg, to which it often invites the clients. Audi also sponsors sports events - horse racing, car racing, amateur golf competitions, for example, in 2009 Audi became the title sponsor of the FIS Championships in Alpine skiing, in 2011 – of Zenit football club (St. Petersburg).

The revenue of the company – €58.42 billion, operating income – €4.836 billion, total assets - €16.832 billion, total equity – €3.451 billion (in 2009). Volkswagen Group generally spent on advertising $6.6 billion (in 2015).

Today Audi ranks first in sales in the premium segment in Russia and China and in the top 10 worldwide.
