Lenovo brand is officially known as Lenovo Group Ltd. It is a multinational company from China which manufactures and sells electronic devices. The corporation has operations in more than 60 countries.

History of Lenovo

The history of Lenovo started in 1984 when Liu Chuanzhi founded this company in Beijing. At first they tried to import televisions but in vain. After that Lenovo started producing details for personal computers. The corporation became publicly traded in 1994 after Hong Kong listing which rose over $20 million. In 2016 its revenue was $43.03 billion.

Today Lenovo logo is among the most recognizable logos in the computer world. It features the company’s name in a slightly italic and rounded typeface. The black color in the symbol represents strength and dynamic attitude of Lenovo.

Advertising and Interesting Facts

Lenovo’s ads budget was $248 million in 2012. It was the year when Lenovo started expanding its market share in Brazil and India. They established a relationship with Reliance Communications to sell smartphones, assembled a team of senior managers familiar with these markets, launched mobile phones at all price point and worked on ads campaigns to build market share.

In the United States Lenovo became popular after “For Those Who Do” commercials. The campaign was created by “Saatchi & Saatchi” agency. It was designed to appeal to consumers from 18 to 25 years.

Lenovo even released a short-film entitled “The Pursuit” in this campaign. It showed a mysterious young woman using the IdeaPad Yoga 13 to stay a step ahead of her pursuers.

In 2013 Lenovo hired Ashton Kutcher as a product engineer and spokesman. He advertised Lenovo’s Yoga Tablet. At the same time the company launched ads featuring Kobe Bryant released in China and other Asian countries.

Lenovo was an official computer sponsor of the Winter Olympics in Turin and Summer Olympics in Beijing.

In 2011 the company announced the YouTube Space Lab contest. It was held in partnership with YouTube, NASA, the European Space Agency and JAXA. The contest allowed students to devise experiments to be performed by astronauts on the International Space Station.

In 2012 Lenovo started partnership with National Football League. The NFL has also been sponsored by Lenovo.
