Panasonic is an electronics corporation known on the global market. The corporation has headquarters in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It is the world’s fourth-largest tv-sets manufacturer which also provides home renovation services.


History of Panasonic


The history of Panasonic started in 1918 in Japan. It was founded by Konosuke Matsushita, a vendor of duplex lamp sockets. During World War II the company was manufacturing motors, radio equipment and the first vacuum tubes.

In 1961 Panasonic was involved in production of TVs for U.S. In 2016 Panasonic stopped producing analog televisions and focuses on digital technologies. Its revenue in 2016 was 7.553 trillion yen.

Panasonic logo was introduced in 1971. This is one line which says “Panasonic”. The writing is based on Helvetica typeface. Its blue color represents the consistency of the brand.


Advertising and Interesting Facts


In 2016 the ads budget of Panasonic was 367.0 billion yen. Among their campaigns there are a series of commercials featuring Katrina Kaif. She advertises Panasonic Life Conditioner. The commercials are targeted at younger generation.

When the company started selling 4K HDR VIERA TVs, they released a short film in cooperation with award-winning cinematographer Vanja Černjul. These ads were shot and mastered in 4K HDR.

The corporation used to own Universal Studios which was purchased by Philadelphia-based Comcast later. Panasonic was also manufacturing 3DO Gaming systems cooperating with Goldstar which is now known as LG Electronics.

The company is the sponsor of a football player from Germany Marco Reus. Panasonic owns Gamba Osaka, a club membering the Japanese Professional Football League.

The corporation is an official sponsor of the AFC Champions League and the Major League Soccer. It has also been a top level sponsor of the Olympic Games.

The company used to be a sponsor of Toyota Racing Formula One team and professional filmmakers as well.

In 2017 Panasonic received the Design Award. In 2016 and 2015 it was awarded by IAUD Award with the silver and the gold respectively. In 2010 the company won the Product Design Awards prize.
