History of Thomson Reuters

The history of this corporation dates back to 1934. It was Roy Thomson who founded it in Ontario. Back in those days the company was known as International Thomson Organisation Ltd.

In 1851 Paul Julius Reuter opened Reuters Group. It covered a lot of areas and was also responsible for the development of the radio. In 2008 Reuters Group was acquired by Thomson Corporation. In fact no individuals were permitted to own more than 15% of Reuters. However, that restriction was waived in case with Thomson.

Today the company is known as Thomson Reuters, its revenue was $ 12.6 billion in 2014. Its modern logo appeared in 2008. It is a circular icon which consists of numerous dots. The logo was inspired by 1965 Reuters wordmark. It includes white and orange colours. They stand for purity, integrity and energy.

One of the most well-known slogans of Thomas Reuters is “The answer company.”

Advertising and Interesting Facts

The advertising budget of Thomson Reuters was $1.9 billion in 2014. One of their latest campaigns was focused on the theme of intelligent information and another one with the individual needs of businessmen. It included TV commercials, print ads, outdoor and an experiential installation.

Thomson Reuters acquired Streamlogics in 2009 and purchased CorpSmart from Deloitte in 2011. They have also obtained Brazil's Domínio Sistemas, a company which develops accounting solutions.

Thomson Reuters has numerous awards. They were ranked as Canada's leading corporate brand in the 2010 Interbrand Best Canadian Brands ranking. The company has been awarded as The Best Workplace in Canada and in UK in 2017. They have also gained the status of Interbrand's 100 Best Global Brands and The World's Most Admired Companies.
