United Parcel Service is the package delivery company which also provides solutions for management. UPS delivers packages in more than 220 countries. This is the largest delivery company in the world by 2016.

History of UPS

The history of this brand started in 1907. James Casey and Claude Ryan founded American Messenger Company in Washington. They focused on package delivery to retail stores. Their first delivery vehicle was Model T Ford. They expanded their business in 1919 and changed its name to United Parcel Service.

In 2000s UPS acquired Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. The company also purchased Menlo Worldwide Forwarding to enter heavy freight business in 2004. The revenue of UPS was $60.906 billion in 2016.

The original logo of the company featured the eagle and the shield. In 1973 the logo was changed including the shield only. In 1961 another version was introduced featuring a string-tied package above the famous shield. Today the UPS symbol consists of the brown shield with golden shades. “UPS” title is placed in the middle of the logo.

The ads budget of UPS was $25.14 million in 2016.

One of its campaigns is “UPS United Problem Solvers” in which United Parcel Service boats its capabilities in solving problems for customers by the means of innovative logistics solutions. The campaign includes TV commercials, print and online ads.

It was big news discussed by Wall Street Journal when UPS replaced its “What can Brown do for you?” slogan with “We [heart] Logistics.” The ads were spread in U.S., China, Mexico and the United Kingdom. They featured UPS jingle set to the tune of the Dean Martin classic “That's Amore” sung in Mandarin, Spanish and English.

Before the Olympics UPS launched a campaign in Beijing airports. The ads depicted life-size cutouts of uniformed UPS drivers in a relay race.

The company sponsors college sports. UPS is the Official Logistics Partner of the NCAA and 70 individual colleges and universities. It supports Formula 1 racing and two golf Championships such as The Masters and The Open Championship.

UPS partnered with Zipline and Gavi to transform delivery of humanitarian aid. They cooperated with Kabbage to help small businesses.
