Corona is a pale lager beer. It is produced in Mexico by Cervecería Modelo company for domestic distribution and export. However, Constellation Brands exports Corona to the U.S. This drink is one of the top-selling beers in the world.

History of Corona

The history of Corona brand started in 1925. The idea of this drink belongs to Cervecería Modelo. Later the company became a partner of Grupo Modelo. This group was also founded in 1925.

The beer came to U.S. in 70s after Marvin Sands had started selling bulk wine in America. His enterprise was named Canandaigua Wine Company. Its name was changed to Constellation Brands in 2000s. He was responsible for bringing Corona to the United States.

Today Corona is available in over 150 countries. The revenue of Cervecería Modelo was $ 7.1 billion in 2012.

Corona’s logo consists of the beer name which is written in bold. It is placed on a white background. There is a yellow crown above “Corona” title.

The most popular Corona commercials are “Beach in a Can” featuring a song by Jimmy Cliff and “Find Your Beach” using a song by Blind Pilot.

One of Corona's successful campaigns is named “This Is Living.” The brand inspires people to live moments that matter. These ads include authentic voices from around the world. Through hyper sound design and evocative imagery the campaign transports viewers into the moment.

These commercials feature World Surf League stars such as Matt Wilkinson, Julian Wilson and Alejo Muniz.

A provocative campaign by Corona is titled “The Wall.” It features a Mexican actor Diego Luna who says “All of us are angry at the wall that mad man wants to build.” This ad was released after Donald Trump’s idea to build “Mexican” wall.

Corona was the title sponsor of the LPGA Tour tournament Corona Championship. The drink also sponsored NASCAR Toyota Series. In addition, Corona supports such teams as Puebla, Club Leon, Chiapas FC, Monarcas Morelia, América, Toluca, Atlas and Santos Laguna.

The company partnered with Josh Duhamel to transform Times Square and had a marketing campaign with Spotify.
