DHL Express division belongs to Deutsche Post DHL. It is a Germany based logistics company which provides courier, parcel and express mail services internationally. DHL has over 320,000 employees.


History of DHL


One of the company’s founders was Larry Hillblom who started DHL’s history. In 1960s he worked in the US as a courier for the insurance company Michael's, Poe & Associates. With Adrian Dalsey and Robert Lynn they started to expand MPA later. They combined the initials of their surnames to give a name to the company known as DHL.

In 1998 Deutsche Post began to acquire DHL’s shares. By 2002 Deutsche Post had 100% of DHL and it became the part of Express division. In 2015 its revenue was €59,230 billion.

DHL logo is designed in a dynamic style. It consists of three letters which are DHL. There are three lines surrounding them from both sides. The well-known colours of the logo are red and yellow.

Advertising and Interesting Facts


Ads budget of DHL was €745,340 million in 2015. One of the company’s worldwide campaigns is known as “The Power of Global Trade”. Its goal is to show the deep connection between trade and logistics.

In 2011 DHL launched “The International Specialists” campaign which involved TV commercials, ads on the Internet and other media. It highlighted express shipping needs of different industries explaining how DHL could help.

DHL cooperated with Magyar Posta in 2016 to expand its cross-border e-commerce opportunities.

For a number of years the company has been a sponsor of Porsche RS Spyder Le Mans Prototypes which participated in the International Motor Sports Association American Le Mans Series.

In 2011 Manchester United Football Club announced DHL as their first training kit sponsor. The company is still the title sponsor of the South African Western Cape Rugby Union teams Western Province and the Stormers.
