History of Jack Daniels


The founder of this brand was Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel. He started the history of the drink in America in 1875. Having received an inheritance from his father's estate Daniel founded a legally registered distilling business with his partner. The enterprise became successful when their whiskey received the gold medal at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

Jack Daniel’s had hard times during World War II. However, things improved in 1988 when the whiskey was lowered to 80 proof. Today the owner of the brand is Brown Forman. Its revenue was $1.09 billion in 2015.

The most famous logo of the company says “Old No. 7”. It combines an oval shape and monogram elements. The symbol also includes the brand name. “Jack Daniel’s” title is written in uppercase letters. It is placed at the top of the logo.

Advertising and Interesting Facts


Ads budget of Jack Daniel’s manufacturer was $16.8 million in 2012.

When the company was celebrating its 150th anniversary it released an interesting advertising campaign. They launched several events and introduced a number of limited-edition products. It was a global campaign known as “Jack Daniel’s Barrel Hunt”. TV commercials and various ads were used to attract buyers.

For another series of ads the company involved the townspeople of Lynchburg. The idea was to show the roots of the manufacturer. When one of such commercials was mad a 104-year-old woman came to the shoot.

During the period from 2006 to 2015 Jack Daniel’s has been sponsoring V8 Supercar teams Perkins Engineering and Kelly Racing. The manufacturer used to support Richard Childress Racing 07 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from 2005 to 2009. It was numbered after the “Old No. 7”. The whiskey company also sponsors Zac Brown Band’s tours.

Jack Daniel’s has a “drinking school” opened in cooperation with BeMyDD. Its idea is to present a new way of education for consumers to drink responsibly.

Jack Daniel’s was the partner of Rocsi Diaz for the “Key to VIP” event. They have also collaborated with BET.
