PepsiCo, Inc. is an American multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation. Pepsi-Cola is one of the most popular non-alcoholic soft drinks in the world.


History of Pepsi


Pepsi Trademark belongs to PepsiCo Inc., and started its way as a chemist’s syrup assisting digestion and cheerfulness. Pepsi-Cola came to life in a small town of New Bern in North Carolina, in a drugstore run by Caleb Bradham. The owner of the place used to treat his customers to his drinks that he hoped might be enjoyed. So it happened. A mixture of sparkling water, cola nuts, vanilla and oils under the name of Brad’s Drink was great success. In 1903 the lucky chemist registered Pepsi-Cola trademark. The name of Pepsi in the present form appeared 1961. The PepsiCo Inc. managers were Donald McIntosh Kendall and Herman W. Lay.

PepsiCo, Inc. is a transnational company in food production industry, manufacturer of soft drinks and other food. The headquarters is located in Purchase (New York). The company was born by merging of The Pepsi-Cola Company with Frito-Lay company in 1965. Half of the revenue comes from its activities in the USA, 20% comes from Mexico, Russia, Canada, Great Britain and Brazil.

Pepsi’s target audience includes mostly teenagers and young people. So their advertising reflects this in every possible way. The advertising strategy includes those to attract more of the target audience. The advertising is mostly creative and has different elements like music and sports.

Collaboration with BBDO ad agency improved Pepsi’s strategy of promotion on the market. The advertising campaign Pepsi generation has been the longest in history.

In 1984 Pepsi started a wide musical ad campaign. Celebrities change one another. Michael Jackson was the first one who received the biggest sponsorship. Later Beckham, O’Neil, Sophia Vergara were invited.

The winning commercial with women-gladiators performed by Britney Spears, Beyonce, Pink and Enrique Iglesias. The song We Will Rock You (Freddie Mercury) in addition to 50 000 men crowd produced a large scale effect!

PepsiCo did all their best to sponsor Halftime Show – a concert that is broadcast in breaks of Super Cup matches. The creative developers were Scratch and Mekanism agencies. Bruno Mars was the invited celebrities. The concert during the Super Bowl break is one of the most popular show in the USA and in 2016 it was watched by 110,5 mln people.

In 2015 the main financial index of PepsiCo reduced due to worsened economic situation in two important activities areas – Russia and Brazil. Besides due to a Fat fight campaign in the USA the sales of soft sweet beverages reduced in the USA by 14%.
