BBC Worldwide briefed us to create the digital legacy for Britain’s most revered television broadcaster, Sir David Attenborough. Targeting ‘bitesize escapists’ and ‘educated families’, it’s accumulated almost 500,000 downloads since November 17th 2016.
To celebrate Attenborough’s life work, we assembled the largest digital collection of his most informative and breathtaking moments, and empowered viewers to carve their own path through the natural world.
Sir David Attenborough’s Story of Life crosses both iOS and Android, Mobile and Tablet. It features over 1,000 landmark clips spanning more than 60 years, to continue Attenborough’s mission of inspiring a love and awe of the natural world in every generation. Guided by Sir David himself in exclusive footage, viewers can create personal clip collections and share them with the world.
The look and feel was inspired by three generations of camera operators, who have braved the most extreme environments on Earth to capture jaw-dropping visuals. Given that Sir David brings you life through the lens, the app’s interface centres on the use of circular shapes and gestures, that literally bring the natural world into focus. By interacting with the lens, users reach in to find their thematic focus for creating their own stories of life.
