Budweiser is one of the best-selling beer trademarks in America. This is a kind of a pale lager known globally. Today you can find it on more than 80 markets all over the world. Because of the brand name discourse this drink is also known as Bud.


History of Budweiser


The history of this product dates back to 1876. The company was founded by Carl Conrad who was neither a brewer nor a bottler. Carl had a dinner in Bohemia and tasted a brew which he liked. After that Conrad contracted with St. Louis Lager Beer to produce this drink.

Budweiser Beer was named after a town of Budweis, Bavaria. Conrad was successful when selling locally but he went bankrupt when faced the global market.

Today Budweiser brand belongs to Anheuser-Busch. It is on the Forbes list holding 25th position among world's most valuable brands. Its revenue was $43.604 million in 2015.

The first logo of the company was simply “C C Co” initials. They could be found on the bottom of the bottles from 1878 to 1883. Later it became a monogram looking like “CC&Co” with a lot of variations.

The modern logo shows “Budweiser” title with a crown on top. It has a geometric shape in the background. The most recognizable colour of the logo is red with golden insertions.

Budweiser has had a lot of slogans during its existence. Some of the most memorable ones are:

“Whassup?”
“Where there's life, there's Bud”
“When you say Budweiser, you've said it all”
“The King of Beers”


Advertising and Interesting Facts


The company had a trademark problem with Budweiser Budvar Brewery of České Budějovice, Czech Republic. This is the reason why the beer is marketed as Bud in European Union.

Anheuser-Busch ads budget was $449 million in 2012 and they have paid $1 billion for cooperation with NFL in 2010. In fact Budweiser is closely connected with sports. It is known as sponsor of NASCAR teams and a partner of Major League Soccer.

Among the TV advertisements Budweiser Frogs are recognizable as well as Budweiser Clydesdales also known as Clydesdale horses. The company has had a campaign with Tudou.com video site from China.

The advertisement which brought Budweiser fame and prizes was “Whassup?” video. It was about a group of friends calling each other and saying “Whassup?”. This infectious campaign has taken the top prize at London International Advertising Awards. Owing to Budweiser commercials this phrase has become commonly used among people.
