Honda Motor Company is a multinational corporation that engages in design, development, and manufacture of automobiles, aircraft, solar cells, motorcycles, combustion engines since 1964. Honda builds nearly 14 million engine units yearly. This company became the second-largest Japanese automobile manufacturer in 2001. Honda market capitalization was $51.1 billion in May 2016 according to Forbes.


History of Honda


This Company was founded by Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa in 1948 headquartered in Minato, Tokyo Japan. Honda invested about 5.7% ($6.8 billion) in 2013 of its revenues to facilitate research and development.

Soichiro Honda at his young age was passionate about working with automobiles. Tokai Sieki delivered piston rings to Toyota. However, his contract with Toyota was terminated due to the low quality of piston rings he supplied. Honda developed a mechanized process that produces high standard piston rings which were eventually accepted by Toyota. Honda's effort was frustrated during American bomber in 1945 during World War II. After World War, II Honda formed a team of 12 individuals that would make up the Honda Technical Research Institute in 1946.

Honda Motor Company was incorporated in 1955 becoming the largest and best-selling producer of motorcycles in Japan.
