Smirnoff is the brand of vodka which belongs to Diageo plc. The drink is made using a traditional charcoal filtration method by Smirnoff. This vodka is distributed in 130 countries and produced in different areas including Italy, England and U.S.


History of Smirnoff


The history of Smirnoff brand started in 1864 when Pyotr Smirnov founded his vodka distillery in Moscow. By 1886 he had captured two-thirds of the Russian market. His drink was Tsar's favorite but he nationalized the Russian vodka industry. As a result, the son of Pyotr had to sell his brand.

This vodka became especially popular in Germany after the Berlin Wall came down. The revenue of Smirnoff was $25.7 million in 2015.

The current logo of the company includes cold silver shades. The symbol shows two eagles with a crown above their heads. A bright red line runs across the logo saying “Smirnoff.”

The ads budget of the drink was $22.16 million in 2013.

One of the most famous Smirnoff commercials is named “Sea.” The campaign was released in 2007 including such tie-ins as “Smirnoff Purifier”, an online game and a tour of a custom-built “Smirnoff Purification Installation.”

In addition, Smirnoff is known for a series of print ads. They take a look at people through a bottle of “Smirnoff” vodka showing their souls. In most cases they detect evil origins of people.

One of the recent marketing campaigns Smirnoff trolls Donald Trump. In U.S. billboards Smirnoff brand says that it is “Made in America.” The advert says “But we'd be happy to talk about our ties to Russia under oath.” This ad was widely praised on social media.

Smirnoff has also presented an interesting project titled “Mindtunes” which marks a new level of relationship between music and people.

In most cases Smirnoff brand sponsors music events and shows. Among them are Live Nation Inks and Big Night Out. The company also supported an Official Cocktail Competition. However, Smirnoff helps racers too. They sponsor Formula One cars and Sahara Force team from India.

During the world’s biggest Nightlife Exchange in 50 countries Smirnoff partnered with Madonna. The company also cooperated with Neurotechnology experts to conduct a range of experiments.
